Rising Cross at Red Beach

A white cross rises above this gleaming chapel along the shore of the red beach in Santorini. Though this building is obviously new, some of the oldest villages of the island are near here. They say the lost city of Atlantis may even be nearby.

Crepes

From our last night in Greece. One more dinner of fried anchovies, fava beans, feta cheese, mykonos beer, hummus... One more dessert of frappe and ice cream. One more cigarette... I didn't actually order a crepe but I did photograph this neon sign outside of the bar we ended up at.

This is one of the many beautiful churches in Santorini. On most photos of the island, we see the outside of the church domes. So, here's a view from the inside. I think this perspective is much lovelier.

Indonesia Slasher

The young dancers from Indonesia were our neighbors at the festival dorm. Their performances and especially their music had a lot of modern flair ... some played with a back beat rhythm. I had never heard a gamelan played that way, although we sometimes do the same kind of jams on our own filipino instruments.

Thira Santorini

First look at the caldera from the main town of Thira. The view is amazing. Hotels, restaurants and cafes are stacked one on top of the other, climbing up the mountain. And that water seemed impossibly blue.
