The Details

The hotel in which we stayed was tucked away in a skinny alley called Rue D'Argentine. It's an area that's for tourists like us and a few blocks from the Arc. The carpet was clean enough but had a look of being vacuumed thousands of times. The building itself was much older than the carpet. The wallpaper was red and shiney, maybe gilded with fake flakes.

The locks on the doors were operated by skeleton key. But we didn't worry too much about safety because the hotel's front doors are locked over night. We also were not allowed to leave the building with our keys, which meant each night we'd have to ask to be let in.
